Just some thoughts:
Recently my wife and sat at our grandson’s (Lawson) high school graduation. He was graduating from Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland.
The graduation was being held at Constitutional Hall in downtown Washington, D.C. A bit of a stretch from his grandfather’s high school graduation fifty-nine years ago in the Pimento, Indiana high school gym. As I sat there waiting for the program to begin I was reminded of something Mark Twain had once said.
The two most important days in ones life is
the day they are born and the day when they figure how why they were.
To those graduates I thought: “Now the real job begins with you trying to figure out the second part of Mr. Twain’s statement. ”
That may take a lifetime.
