Just some thoughts:
TAKE IT BACK
Earlier today I was at the “grocery store,” our local Publix’s. With all the closings, cancellations I think there was enough people to fill Bridgestone arena. It was crazy. The rack where all the Diet Dr.Peppers normal are, was empty. Same with my pops cycles, all gone.
When leaving the store walking with my cart I saw an interesting exchange in the parking lot. The exchange was between a boy I judged to be twelve or thirteen years old and I also judged to be the boy’s father. They had unloaded their groceries and the boy started to get in the car. I could not hear but I could tell the dad had said something to the boy.
Then I did hear the dad say to the boy, “take the cart back.” To which the boy said, “aw I don’t wanna do that, don’t need to, let someone else, they’ll come and get it.” And he started to walk away. The dad then calling the boy by his name said:
“Uh, no, no this is not someone else’s job this is ours, we take our carts back, so take the cart back to where we first got it.”
Without further word from the boy, but not with great speed, the boy gathered up the cart and started back to the store.
I wanted to run over there and shake (fist pump or I guess now with the virus thing, elbow pump,) the father. Kinda refreshing to see such a display of not allowing “it’s not my job attitude” be carried out any further.
“Now take it back to where we got it.”
