Just some thoughts:
A few days after a storm more like a tornado had badly damaged his home he woke up one morning to the sound of a hammer and a man on his roof pounding. Later that day he learned that his neighbor had scaled the roof and tacked down some roofing, shingles that had blown loose.
The man who had gone on the roof did not ask the man if or where he went to church, how he voted, or who his family was. He did not climb that ladder for money, attention or even a thank you. ” He did it because as he said, “It looked like rain.”
Sometimes in life we need to do things because:
“The roof is damaged and it looks like rain.”
Doing good should never come with strings attached.
