Just some thoughts:
Young people are in a condition like a permanent intoxication,
because youth is sweet and they are growing.
Aristotle 364-322 BC
“High school memories are acute–and lasting. Just four short years, but during those years, girls become women and boys become men. High school is an era of emotional extremes–dizzying highs and seemingly bottomless lows with nothing in between.”
A Matter of Conscience–Sherry Lee Hoppe
There are exceptions to everything and I am sure there are in such a statement from Ms Hoppe but I also think in many cases both she and Aristotle are valid in their thoughts.
As I sat at a high school basketball game last night between two rival high schools in my area, observing, just watching the kids, taking it all it with my popcorn and coke…inwardly I smiled and thought of what these four short years can do and mean to a young person.
The deepest definition of youth is life as yet untouched by tragedy.
Alfred North Whitehead 1861-1947
