Just some thoughts:
Recently I stood on the bidding floor at one of Mecum’s auto auctions.
I wasn’t paying a lot of attention to the person standing next to me but I did notice like me he seemed to have more than a passing interest in the Corvettes that were being sold.
He had on sun glasses, blue jeans with an old baseball cap pulled down well over his eyes. He and I both watched as the next five cars to come across the selling block were all Corvettes. A 1959 (like the first one I ever had) a 1962, 1960, 1965 and a very new model. When they all sold he slowly walked away from where we both had been standing. Only then did I realize it was Mr. October, Reggie Jackson who I had been standing next to. All five of the Corvettes were from a portion of the collection of cars he has.
I was reminded of something Jackson supposedly once said:
“If you have a bat in your hand, you have a chance to change to story line.”
When living on the East coast for nearly twenty-five we got to see Mr.Jackson do that very thing in his playing days with the New York Yankees.
With one swing he often did change the story line.
To some degree each of us has within our power to change a story line…
